Clean Books Uplift
I read a great article about the importance of monitoring what your children *and you* read.

Finding out if an author writes clean material isn’t as easy as searching for “clean” books because the definition of clean is different by who is writing the review. Does it stop at a kiss? Does it stop at a closed door? Does it include a little petting, but because they didn’t “go all the way” it’s still considered clean? The latter is not clean in my way of thinking.
You’ll need to take the time to research whether a book is clean or not. I read reviews on Goodreads and search out additional sites. Sometimes I search within forums on Goodreads or ask about it on a forum.
Ask friends if they’ve read it. Although, you might be surprised at what your friends deem clean as well. When you start reading a book and find it’s not clean ~don’t let the need to finish it keep you reading something inappropriate.~
Sadly, we’ve been so desensitized by inappropriate media that we may not even feel uncomfortable with what we’re seeing, hearing or reading anymore. I’ve had to stop watching shows I was enjoying and give up the series because of progressively inappropriate material.
I’m a finisher. Once I start a show, book or movie I want to view, read, listen to or watch the whole thing completely. It’s hard for me to put down a book when I’m partway through. I want to know the end.
I’ve learned my own technique to help me stop reading anyway. I imagine an ending that makes me happy. I mentally go back in the storyline before things got inappropriate, and mentally visualize my own ending. It’s kind of like those pick your own ending stories from when I was a kid, only for me it’s all imagined and not written down.
I’ve been really happy to find many, many clean books on Deseret Bookshelf Plus. They have 3000+ ebooks. *I know whatever book I find there will be clean.* I don’t need to worry that I’ll be listening to an audio book and have something smutty loudly spoken in my home, car or wherever I’m listening. I don’t have to worry that “little ears” or adult ears for that matter will be shocked or disgusted. I don’t have to worry that I’ll be embarrassed or feel ashamed of what I’m listening to.
I’m not an affiliate of Deseret Bookshelf Plus but it’s worth the $9.99 per month subscription for the peace of mind that I don’t have to worry about what I’ll be reading or hearing. You can even get it for much less at $69 per year. If you’re a platinum member of Deseret Book you can get 30% off that price. It’s a deal worth investing in for unlimited ebooks and audio books!
Again, I don’t make a thing from saying this, or benefit in any way, but here is a link if you’re interested:
